Hope
The word hope is best know as a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen. There are currently around 500,000 people in Nebraska suffering from a disease called Huntington’s disease. Huntington’s disease is a fatal and genetic disease that diminishes ones ability to walk, talk, eat and reason. The life span of someone with Huntington’s on average is 10 to 20 years; many children who have Huntington’s rarely live to being an adult. Each child who has a parent suffering from Huntington’s disease will have a 50/50 chance of inheriting the gene that cause Huntington’s. Researchers are trying to find a cure for this disease that can even cure other disorders such as MS, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. A national voluntary health organization called the Huntington’s disease society of America conducts an event called Team Hope Walk, a national movement to bring awareness and research to Huntington’s disease to help make a difference in the lives of many people suffering with this devastating disease. The HDSA wants to start building awareness that will flood the state of Nebraska. The HDSA of the upper Midwest Region is holding and event that is held in many other regions of the states called Team hope walk and a 5k fun run, in Grand Island, Nebraska. The event will be held on Saturday August 11th, registration is at 9:00 AM and the event will start at 10:00 AM. Pre-registration is only $20.00 and then goes up the day of the event. This is an event you won’t want to miss out on. Think of the impact just registering to participate in this event can do. Why not be a part of something as impacting, life changing and moving as this?
Come join us on Saturday August 11th. We look forward to sharing this day with you.
